What's in a paytable

Symbols, features and the numbers

Open any slot and tap the 'i' or menu icon. The paytable (sometimes 'game info' or 'rules') is where the slot states its RTP, volatility, max win and how every symbol and feature pays.

Symbol values

Payouts are usually shown as multiples of your bet or per line. Check the top symbol's value for five of a kind: it tells you how rich the base game is.

Wilds and scatters

Wilds substitute for other symbols; scatters trigger features. The paytable says how many scatters you need and whether they pay on their own.

Features and bonus rounds

Free spins, multipliers, expanding symbols, hold-and-win: the paytable explains the trigger and the rules. If a slot offers a bonus buy, the price and its own RTP are listed here.

RTP, volatility and max win

Most providers state the RTP (and the version in use), a volatility rating and the maximum win in multiples of the stake. If the RTP shown is lower than the one on the provider's site, the casino is running a reduced version.

Compare paytables for the same slot at two casinos. If the RTPs differ, play where it's higher.
