Simple ways to keep gambling fun

Stay in control

These habits help you enjoy casino games and betting without letting them take over.

Set a budget — Decide how much you can afford to lose before you start, and treat it as the cost of entertainment.
Use deposit limits — Set daily, weekly or monthly deposit limits in your casino account. Lowering a limit takes effect immediately.
Watch the clock — Set a time limit or use reality checks, and take regular breaks.
Never chase losses — Losses are part of gambling. Trying to win them back usually leads to bigger losses.
Don't play under pressure — Avoid gambling when you're stressed, upset or have been drinking.
Take a break — Use a time-out or self-exclusion if you need distance. Every licensed casino offers these tools.

Warning signs

It can be hard to notice when gambling stops being fun. Ask yourself these questions honestly.

Do you spend more money or time gambling than you planned? Do you chase losses or borrow money to gamble? Do you feel anxious, irritable or guilty about gambling? Is it affecting your work, studies, relationships or sleep? Do you hide your gambling from people close to you?

If you answered yes to any of these, it may be time to take a break and talk to someone. Help is free, confidential and available every day.

Where to get help

Gambling Therapy: free international online support in many languages.
BeGambleAware: information and support, with the National Gambling Helpline for UK players.
Gamblers Anonymous: peer support meetings around the world.

Self-exclusion

Self-exclusion blocks you from gambling for a set period. You can self-exclude at an individual casino through your account settings. Many countries also have national schemes that cover all licensed operators, such as GAMSTOP in the UK and ROFUS in Denmark.

Protect minors. Gambling is for adults only. If children use your devices, use parental control software such as Net Nanny or Cyber Patrol to block gambling sites.
